The group met in the Musiques Actuelles Amplifiées (MAA) class at the Conservatoire de Nîmes. It made its debut in December 2019 under the name Rituals, with the challenge of spontaneously creating a Christmas single. The track "Christmas Night" was released shortly afterwards. Nourished by Soul and Funk, Thana-Marie on vocals, Vincent on bass, Jérémie on guitar and Paul on drums share the same Afro-American musical influences. The desire to create their own music, their own identity, quickly took hold. The band's name, Late On Monday, is a nod to Monday morning rehearsals and the preconceived notion that musicians are punctual.
Late on Monday's sound is often groovy, sometimes haunting, without ever ceasing to be punchy. The repertoire reflects a sunny mood, crossed by freshness and emotion.
