The students in master space design of ESMA worked on the requalification of the pontoons of the fishermen on the quays Georges Clémenceau and Paul Cunq. They were led to reflect on the territory of Palavas. First, they conducted a group study of the site: by observing the local specificities (cultures, landscape, history, geography, resources and risks, natural areas, fauna, flora and climate, activities and heritage, regulatory documents, land registry, PLU, maritime domain?) After this approach allowing an appropriation of the stakes and constraints of the site, a meeting with the fishermen and the elected official in charge of trade allowed to better understand the stakes linked to the fishing activity but also the questions, the expectations, the problems, the constraints, the potentials and the stakes of valorization. The students were then individually seized of the project situation. The program consisted in making proposals for the development of pontoons and functional points of sale that would enhance the value of the fishing activity and, more broadly, of the city. The subject was extremely difficult between a demanding activity, a site of a rare authenticity and the will to bring a more without denaturing the local specificities. A restitution of the work with the fishermen and the elected officials will allow an exchange on these projects which even if they are fictitious remain prospective.
